Superior Site Amenities Limited Warranty Summary
D&D Learning Spaces is an authorized dealer for Superior Site Amenities, a division of Superior Recreational Products. Superior Site Amenities manufactures commercial outdoor tables, benches, receptacles, bike racks, dog-park products, fitness equipment and related site furnishings for schools, parks, recreation facilities and public spaces.
Superior’s warranty provides several levels of coverage:
- Lifetime warranty on stainless-steel hardware
- Seven-year limited warranty on textured polyethylene and thermoplastic coatings
- Five-year limited warranty on structural frames and factory-applied powder coating
- One-year limited warranty on materials and components not covered by another listed warranty
Coverage begins on the date of invoice and applies after Superior Recreational Products has been paid in full.
What Does Superior Site Amenities’ Limited Warranty Mean?
Superior Recreational Products warrants that covered site-amenities products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship and will maintain their structural integrity for the applicable warranty period.
For customers, this means Superior may repair or replace a covered part if the product develops a qualifying material, manufacturing or structural defect during normal use and exposure.
Warranty coverage applies only when the product:
- Has been fully paid for
- Has been assembled according to Superior’s instructions
- Has been installed according to Superior’s instructions
- Has been installed using good construction practices
- Has been used normally
- Has experienced only normal environmental exposure
- Has not been altered or repaired without authorization
Superior determines whether a reported condition was caused by defective materials, defective workmanship or a covered defective part.
A limited warranty does not mean that outdoor furniture will remain completely free from scratches, fading, weathering, surface wear or cosmetic changes. These conditions are generally excluded unless they result from a qualifying manufacturing or material defect.
What Does Superior’s Lifetime Warranty Mean?
Superior provides a lifetime warranty on stainless-steel hardware.
For purposes of this warranty, “lifetime” does not refer to a fixed number of years. It means the product and its covered parts are warranted against defects in materials and manufacturing workmanship for as long as:
- The original customer owns the product
- The product is used for its intended purpose
- The product remains properly installed
- Approved Superior Recreational Products parts are used
The lifetime warranty is therefore tied to the original customer’s ownership and proper product use. It does not transfer automatically to another owner.
The lifetime warranty does not cover vandalism, misuse, abuse, altered parts, cosmetic damage, normal fading, ordinary weathering or normal wear and tear.
Who Is Covered?
Superior’s warranty generally applies to the original purchaser or original customer.
The specific structural-frame, powder-coat, textured-polyethylene and lifetime-hardware provisions identify coverage for the original purchaser or customer. Customers obtaining used, donated or transferred products should not assume that the original warranty remains available.
Customers should retain:
- The original D&D Learning Spaces invoice
- The purchase-order number
- Superior’s original sales-order number
- The Superior product model or item number
- The invoice date
- Installation records
- Photographs of the product
- Maintenance records
- Records of field touch-up or repairs
Superior requires the original sales-order number when arranging an inspection for a warranty claim.
What Is Covered?
Superior’s warranty generally covers qualifying defects in:
- Original materials
- Manufacturing
- Workmanship
- Structural-steel supports
- Factory-applied powder coating
- Textured polyethylene coatings
- Thermoplastic coatings
- Stainless-steel hardware
- Other covered components during the applicable warranty period
For structural frames, coverage includes rust-through conditions that compromise structural integrity, subject to the warranty’s exclusions.
For textured polyethylene and thermoplastic seating and tabletop surfaces, coverage includes qualifying corrosion that causes bare-metal exposure.
When Superior approves a claim, it may, at its discretion:
- Repair the defective part
- Replace the defective part
- Alter the product design, color or contributing factors to correct the condition
- Take steps intended to help prevent the condition from recurring
Superior determines the appropriate remedy.
What Is Not Covered?
Superior’s warranty excludes damage or deterioration caused by:
- Incorrect installation
- Vandalism
- Misuse
- Abuse
- Accidents
- Normal wear and tear
- Abnormal use
- Lack of maintenance
- Unauthorized repairs
- Unauthorized modifications
- Additions or attachments made without written consent
- Exposure to extreme weather

- Immersion in chlorinated water
- Salt spray
- Sand
- Abrasive materials
- Corrosive materials
- Chemical contact
- Pollution
- Sprinkler systems

The warranty also excludes cosmetic defects and ordinary appearance changes, including:
- Scratches
- Dents
- Marring
- Stripping
- Peeling
- Fading
- Ordinary weathering
Product-Specific Warranty Periods
Superior assigns separate warranty periods to hardware, frames, coatings and all remaining materials.
Stainless-Steel Hardware — Lifetime Warranty
Superior provides a lifetime warranty on stainless-steel hardware.
Coverage applies for as long as the original customer owns the product and uses it for its intended purpose.
The product must be installed according to Superior’s instructions using approved Superior Recreational Products parts. Damage caused by vandalism, misuse, abuse, alteration, modification, cosmetic damage, fading, weathering or normal wear is excluded.
Structural-Steel Frames — Five-Year Limited Warranty
Superior provides a five-year limited warranty on structural supports for tables and benches.
The structural-steel warranty covers qualifying rust-through conditions that compromise the product’s structural integrity. Workmanship on the steel frame is also warranted for five years.
The steel-frame warranty is void when damage results from:
- Installer damage
- Physical impact
- Salt spray
- Sprinkler systems
- Chemical contact
- Chlorine
- Pollution
- Misuse
- Vandalism
- Acts of God
Factory-Applied Powder Coating — Five-Year Limited Warranty
Superior provides a five-year limited warranty on factory-applied powder coating for the original purchaser.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Shipping
- Erection
- Installation
- Vandalism
- Accidents
- Field modification
- Failure to perform field touch-up
Damage that occurs during shipping, installation or modification must be touched up immediately and maintained periodically thereafter.
The owner must report a powder-coat defect when the installation is completed.
Powder-Coat Areas Not Covered
The powder-coat warranty does not cover coating performance on:
- Acute angles
- Welds
- End plates
These areas may require inspection and maintenance as part of normal outdoor-furniture care.
Powder-Coat Color Retention
Under the stated five-year powder-coat warranty, properly applied coatings are expected to retain color within defined limits.
After five years of exposure:
- High-chroma colors such as yellows, reds and oranges should remain within a color-change measurement of less than 7.5 ΔE units
- Lower-chroma colors should remain within a color-change measurement of less than 5.0 ΔE units
Color retention is measured according to ASTM D2244.
Powder-Coat Gloss Retention
After five years, the coating is expected to retain at least 50 percent of its original gloss level after washing, when tested according to ASTM D523.
Powder-Coat Chalking
The powder coating is expected to exhibit chalking no worse than a numerical rating of six when evaluated according to ASTM D659-80.
Textured Polyethylene and Thermoplastic — Seven-Year Limited Warranty
Superior provides a seven-year limited warranty to the original purchaser for textured polyethylene and thermoplastic products.
The warranty applies to qualifying corrosion on seats and tabletops that results in bare-metal exposure.
Coverage excludes corrosion caused by:
- Vandalism
- Intentional stripping
- Deliberate removal of the coating
- Misuse
- Abrasive exposure
- Corrosive environmental conditions
- Other excluded causes
Other Materials and Components — One-Year Limited Warranty
Materials and components not covered by the lifetime, seven-year or five-year warranty provisions carry a one-year limited warranty.
This may include miscellaneous parts, materials or accessories that are not identified under another product-specific warranty category.
The exact coverage should be confirmed for the individual product and component before a specific warranty term is represented to the customer.

Proper Assembly and Installation Requirements
Superior’s warranty is valid only when products are assembled and installed strictly according to:
- Superior’s setup instructions
- Accepted construction practices
- Product mounting requirements
- Product-specific installation instructions
- Applicable safety requirements
Improper installation may void the warranty.
Examples of installation-related damage that may be excluded include:
- Scratching or chipping during assembly
- Damage caused by lifting equipment
- Damage caused during anchoring
- Damage caused by improper mounting
- Failure to touch up damaged coating
- Chemical contact during installation
- Structural damage caused by the installer
Customers should use qualified installers familiar with commercial outdoor site furnishings.
Approved Parts and Product Modifications
Superior’s lifetime warranty is valid only when the product is installed using approved Superior Recreational Products parts.
The entire warranty may be void if changes, modifications, additions or attachments are made without the manufacturer’s written consent.
Customers should contact D&D Learning Spaces before:
- Drilling into the product
- Welding new attachments
- Adding accessories
- Replacing hardware with nonapproved parts
- Modifying mounting plates
- Altering the frame
- Repairing the coating
- Changing the product’s intended use
Unauthorized work may prevent Superior from determining the original cause of the problem and may eliminate warranty eligibility.
Outdoor Exposure and Environmental Conditions
Superior Site Amenities products are designed for outdoor use, but the warranty covers only normal use and exposure.
Excluded environmental conditions include:
- Extreme weather
- Salt spray
- Chlorinated water
- Saltwater immersion
- Chlorine exposure
- Sand
- Abrasive materials
- Corrosive substances
- Pollution
- Chemical exposure
- Sprinkler-system exposure
Products installed near coastal areas, swimming pools, irrigation systems, industrial sites or other corrosive environments may require additional inspection, cleaning and maintenance.
Sprinkler and Irrigation Exposure
The structural-steel warranty specifically excludes damage caused by sprinkler systems.
Repeated irrigation exposure can contribute to:
- Persistent moisture
- Mineral buildup
- Corrosion
- Coating deterioration
- Rust at joints and hardware
- Soil and chemical deposits
When possible, outdoor furniture should be positioned so that sprinklers do not continuously spray the product.
Salt, Chlorine and Coastal Environments
Superior excludes damage caused by:
- Salt spray
- Saltwater immersion
- Chlorinated-water immersion
- Chlorine
- Other corrosive materials
Schools and facilities located near the ocean, swimming pools or salt-treated environments should clean and inspect furniture regularly.
The presence of a textured-polyethylene, thermoplastic or powder-coated finish does not guarantee protection from every form of corrosion in a harsh environment.
Normal Wear, Fading and Cosmetic Damage
Superior’s warranty does not cover ordinary cosmetic deterioration.
Excluded conditions include:
- Scratches
- Dents
- Marring
- Stripping
- Peeling
- Fading
- Weathering
- Wear from normal use
A cosmetic condition generally must be connected to a qualifying manufacturing, material or coating defect to be considered for warranty coverage.
Damage caused during normal use should be addressed promptly to reduce the possibility of exposed steel and later corrosion.
Powder-Coat Touch-Up and Maintenance
Damage to a powder-coated finish caused during shipping, erection, installation, vandalism, an accident or field modification is not covered.
These areas require:
- Immediate field touch-up
- Periodic inspection
- Additional touch-up when needed
- Protection from ongoing moisture and corrosion
Failure to touch up damaged areas may allow corrosion to develop and can affect future warranty eligibility.
Damage Caused by Acts of God
Superior’s warranty does not cover damage caused by acts of God, including:
- Hail
- Flooding
- Lightning
- Tornadoes
- Sandstorms
- Terrain shifts
- Earthquakes
- Mudslides
- Windstorms
These conditions are not considered defects in the product’s original materials or workmanship.
Freight, Installation and Site Damage
Shipping, erection and installation damage are generally excluded from the applicable product and powder-coat warranties.
Customers should inspect shipments promptly and document:
- Visible freight damage
- Damaged protective wrapping
- Scratches or coating chips
- Bent structural parts
- Missing components
- Damaged hardware
- Installation damage
Customers should retain:
- Shipping documents
- Bills of lading
- Delivery receipts
- Product packaging
- Photographs taken before unloading
- Photographs taken during installation
- Photographs of any affected coating
Damage should be reported to D&D Learning Spaces promptly so the appropriate freight, installer or warranty process can be identified.
Warranty Claim Reporting Deadline
The owner must notify Superior and arrange for an inspection within 30 days after discovering a potential defect.
The claim must be reported:
- Within the applicable warranty period
- Before any alteration is made
- Before any repair is attempted
- Before the condition is concealed or changed
A delay in reporting or an unauthorized repair may void the warranty.
Warranty Inspection Requirements
Superior requires the original sales-order number to arrange a product inspection.
Superior reserves the right to determine whether the reported problem resulted from:
- Defective workmanship
- Defective material
- A defective part
- Improper installation
- Misuse
- Environmental exposure
- Lack of maintenance
- Another excluded cause
Customers should preserve the affected product in its original reported condition until Superior provides instructions.
What Will Superior Do for an Approved Claim?
If Superior determines that a product or part qualifies under the warranty, it may, at its discretion:
- Repair the defective part
- Replace the defective part
- Modify the design or color
- Change contributing factors to correct the condition
- Take steps intended to prevent the problem from recurring
Superior is not required to provide an entirely new product when only one component is defective.
Ex-Works Warranty Service
Superior states that warranty repairs and replacement parts are provided on an Ex-Works basis.
This means the customer is responsible for returning:
- The complete unit; or
- The defective part
to Superior for inspection at the customer’s expense.
Proof of purchase must accompany the return.
Under the separate lifetime-warranty language, Superior states that repaired or replacement parts will be delivered to the site without charge, but labor remains excluded. Customers should confirm the freight and delivery arrangement applicable to the particular approved claim before returning a product or component.
Labor and Site-Service Costs
Superior does not cover costs incurred by the customer in replacing a defective part.
Excluded expenses include:
- Site visits
- Inspection labor performed by outside parties
- Removal labor
- Reinstallation labor
- Assembly labor
- Equipment rental
- Concrete or surfacing work
- Anchoring work
- Other field-service expenses
Superior is also not responsible for compensation while the product is unavailable, nonfunctional or absent from the site.
Consequential and Indirect Damages
Superior excludes responsibility for:
- Indirect damages
- Special damages
- Consequential damages
- Incidental damages
- Liquidated damages
- Losses associated with product downtime
These exclusions apply to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Warranty Authorization Requirements
Customers should not independently repair, modify or replace a product before Superior reviews the claim.
Before authorization, customers should not:
- Weld the product
- Drill into the frame
- Replace structural parts
- Apply an unapproved coating
- Alter the mounting system
- Dispose of defective components
- Arrange unauthorized repairs
- Incur labor or service costs
- Return the product without instructions
Unauthorized alterations or attempted repairs may void the warranty.
