Outdoor Creations Limited Warranty Summary

D&D Learning Spaces is an Outdoor Creations dealer. Outdoor Creations manufactures precast concrete picnic tables, benches, planters, receptacles, bollards, drinking fountains, barbecues and other site furnishings designed for parks, schools, campgrounds and public recreational environments.

Outdoor Creations provides a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for its products. The company also offers an exclusive 10-year vandalism guarantee for its Model 100S and Model 101S concrete picnic tables.

What Does Outdoor Creations’ One-Year Warranty Mean?

Outdoor Creations warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of invoice.

For customers, this means that Outdoor Creations may repair or replace a covered product or component if it fails within the first year because of a qualifying defect in its original materials or manufacturing.

The warranty applies to defects attributable to Outdoor Creations. It does not cover damage caused after manufacture by improper installation, handling, misuse, vandalism or other abnormal conditions. Vandalism is covered only where the separate 10-year vandalism guarantee specifically applies.

A one-year limited warranty does not guarantee that concrete products will remain completely free from cosmetic changes, hairline cracking, surface air pockets or ordinary outdoor weathering. Some variations and changes are inherent characteristics of precast concrete rather than structural failures.

Who Is Covered?

Outdoor Creations’ published warranty does not expressly describe whether coverage transfers to a subsequent owner. Customers purchasing used, donated or transferred Outdoor Creations products should therefore not assume that the original warranty remains available.

Customers should retain:

  • The original D&D Learning Spaces invoice
  • The purchase-order number
  • The Outdoor Creations model number
  • The invoice and delivery dates
  • Photographs of the product
  • Installation and placement records
  • Product approval drawings, when available
  • Maintenance and sealing records

The invoice date is particularly important because Outdoor Creations’ standard one-year warranty begins on that date.

What Is Covered?

Outdoor Creations’ general warranty covers qualifying defects in:

  • Original materials
  • Manufacturing
  • Workmanship
  • Covered product components
  • Structural construction when a failure results from a manufacturing or material defect

If Outdoor Creations determines that a product or component is defective under the warranty, it may:

  • Repair the defective part
  • Replace the defective part

Covered repairs or replacement parts are provided without charge. Outdoor Creations determines whether repair or replacement is the appropriate remedy.

For the separately covered Model 100S and Model 101S picnic tables, destructive vandalism may qualify for repair or replacement under the 10-year vandalism guarantee.

What Is Not Covered?

Outdoor Creations’ standard warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  • Vandalism, except under the separate vandalism guarantee
  • Improper use
  • Improper installation
  • Improper handling
  • Damage occurring after installation
  • Other abnormal conditions
  • Normal maintenance requirements
  • Surface damage
  • Graffiti or graffiti removal
  • Acts of God
  • Ordinary characteristics of precast concrete

The separate vandalism guarantee also excludes damage caused by installation, handling after installation and natural disasters or other acts of God.

Product-Specific Warranty Periods

Outdoor Creations publishes two primary forms of warranty protection: its standard one-year product warranty and a separate 10-year guarantee for two concrete picnic-table models.

Most Outdoor Creations Products — One-Year Warranty

Outdoor Creations warrants all of its products against qualifying defects in materials and workmanship for one year after the invoice date.

This warranty applies to products such as:

  • Concrete picnic tables
  • Concrete benches
  • Concrete planters
  • Concrete receptacles
  • Concrete bollards
  • Concrete barbecues
  • Drinking fountains
  • Other Outdoor Creations site furnishings

The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects. It does not cover damage resulting from improper installation, handling, misuse, vandalism or abnormal conditions.

Model 100S and Model 101S Picnic Tables — 10-Year Vandalism Guarantee

Outdoor Creations provides an exclusive 10-year vandalism guarantee for:

  • Model 100S concrete picnic tables
  • Model 101S concrete picnic tables

The guarantee protects these specific tables against destructive vandalism for 10 years.

Destructive vandalism means damage severe enough to:

  • Destroy the picnic table; or
  • Render the picnic table nonfunctional

For an approved vandalism claim, Outdoor Creations may provide:

  • Full repair of the damaged table; or
  • Replacement of the destroyed or nonfunctional table

The guarantee is limited to one replacement per table.

Other Picnic-Table Models — Standard One-Year Warranty

The published 10-year vandalism guarantee applies only to Model 100S and Model 101S.

Other Outdoor Creations picnic tables remain subject to the standard one-year warranty unless Outdoor Creations provides different written coverage for a particular order or model.

Customers should not assume that the vandalism guarantee applies to:

  • Other concrete picnic-table models
  • Benches
  • Planters
  • Receptacles
  • Barbecues
  • Bollards
  • Drinking fountains
  • Other site furnishings

Summary of Outdoor Creations Warranty Periods

Product or coverage category Warranty period
Most Outdoor Creations products 1 year from invoice date

Model 101S concrete picnic table—materials and workmanship 1 year from invoice date

Damage caused by installation or post-installation handling Not covered
Acts of God Not covered

The standard warranty begins on the invoice date. The 10-year vandalism guarantee applies only to the two specified picnic-table models and allows no more than one replacement per table.

What Does the 10-Year Vandalism Guarantee Cover?

The Outdoor Creations vandalism guarantee is intended to protect qualifying Model 100S and Model 101S picnic tables from unusually severe intentional damage.

Coverage applies when vandalism:

  • Destroys the table
  • Causes a major structural failure
  • Renders the table unusable
  • Renders the table nonfunctional

The guarantee provides for full repair or replacement at Outdoor Creations’ discretion, subject to the one-replacement-per-table limitation.

Minor or cosmetic vandalism does not necessarily qualify. A table must be destroyed or rendered nonfunctional for the vandalism guarantee to apply.

What Is Not Covered by the Vandalism Guarantee?

The 10-year vandalism guarantee does not cover:

  • Normal maintenance
  • Surface damage
  • Graffiti removal
  • Damage caused during installation
  • Damage caused by handling after installation
  • Damage from fallen trees
  • Earthquakes
  • Floods
  • Other acts of God

The guarantee also does not promise repeated replacements. Only one replacement is available for each qualifying Model 100S or Model 101S table.

One-Piece Concrete Construction

Outdoor Creations uses a one-piece molding process for many of its precast concrete products.

The company describes this construction as providing:

  • Reinforced concrete construction
  • Reduced need for assembly
  • No separate furniture parts that can loosen over time
  • Smooth surfaces
  • Rounded corners
  • Reduced opportunities for corrosion
  • Resistance to demanding park and recreational use

Outdoor Creations states that its products are reinforced with steel rebar and designed for heavy-use environments such as parks, campgrounds and recreational areas.

This durable construction does not eliminate the need for proper handling, placement, sealing and maintenance.

Hairline Cracks in Precast Concrete

Outdoor Creations’ product documents state that hairline cracks may develop in precast concrete over time.

These hairline cracks are not necessarily structural failures. They may be inherent characteristics of the concrete material.

A hairline crack may therefore be treated differently from a substantial crack or failure that affects:

  • Structural integrity
  • Product stability
  • Safe use
  • Seating or tabletop support
  • The product’s ability to perform its intended function

Customers should photograph and report any crack that appears to be expanding, separating, exposing reinforcement or affecting the safe use of the furniture.

Outdoor Creations makes the final determination regarding whether a crack is an inherent material characteristic or a covered defect.

Air Pockets and Surface Variations

Outdoor Creations states that air pockets are common in precast concrete products.

The number and size of air pockets can vary, particularly on vertical surfaces. These surface characteristics are expected features of precast concrete and are not automatically evidence of defective materials or workmanship.

Normal concrete variations may include:

  • Small surface voids
  • Air pockets
  • Minor differences in texture
  • Variations in integrally mixed color
  • Minor finish differences
  • Hairline cracking

A surface variation that does not affect the product’s structure, safety or intended use may not qualify for warranty coverage.

Chipped Corners and Edges

Concrete corners and edges can chip when products are handled improperly.

Outdoor Creations’ product documentation states that concrete products must be handled according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Patch kits may be available, but the repaired area may not blend perfectly with the original color or texture.

Chipping caused by:

  • Forklift contact
  • Improper lifting
  • Dropping
  • Dragging
  • Impact during installation
  • Post-installation handling

may be excluded from warranty coverage because the standard warranty does not cover improper installation or handling.

Concrete Color and Finish Variations

Outdoor Creations uses integrally mixed coloring agents on applicable products and applies a clear coating to finished surfaces.

Concrete is a manufactured material made from cement, water, aggregates and coloring agents. Natural or production-related variations can occur between:

  • Separate production batches
  • Product samples and finished products
  • New and weathered furniture
  • Patched and original surfaces
  • Replacement and existing products

Outdoor Creations does not state that every concrete product, patch or replacement will provide a perfect color match.

Outdoor exposure, cleaning, age and sealer maintenance may also change the appearance of the concrete over time.

Outdoor Weathering

Outdoor Creations products are designed for exterior environments, but continued exposure to weather can gradually affect their appearance.

Normal outdoor changes may include:

  • Surface fading
  • Minor color changes
  • Clear-coat wear
  • Mineral deposits
  • Dirt accumulation
  • Small surface imperfections
  • Hairline cracks
  • Changes in sheen

These conditions do not automatically indicate a defect in materials or workmanship.

Damage caused by extraordinary events such as floods, earthquakes or fallen trees is excluded from the vandalism guarantee and should not be treated as a standard vandalism claim.

Product Care and Sealer Maintenance

Outdoor Creations’ product documents state that care and maintenance are the responsibility of the end user.

The company also notes that selecting and maintaining the appropriate sealer can help minimize long-term maintenance costs.

Customers should:

  • Inspect concrete surfaces regularly
  • Clean dirt and pollutants from the product
  • Address stains promptly
  • Follow Outdoor Creations’ cleaning recommendations
  • Avoid harsh or incompatible chemicals
  • Maintain the appropriate concrete sealer
  • Prevent prolonged exposure to standing water when possible
  • Inspect cracks for changes
  • Avoid striking concrete edges with maintenance equipment

Failure to maintain the product does not convert normal weathering or surface deterioration into a manufacturing defect.

Graffiti and Graffiti Removal

Graffiti removal is specifically excluded from the 10-year vandalism guarantee.

This means the guarantee does not cover:

  • The cost of graffiti-removal products
  • Cleaning labor
  • Pressure washing
  • Surface refinishing
  • Resealing after graffiti removal
  • Appearance differences caused by cleaning

Damage caused by an unsuitable graffiti-removal method may also fall outside the standard product warranty.

Customers should confirm an appropriate cleaning method before using solvents, chemicals, abrasive equipment or high-pressure washing on an Outdoor Creations product.

Proper Installation and Placement

Outdoor Creations’ standard warranty excludes damage caused by improper installation.

Concrete site furnishings are extremely heavy and often require specialized:

  • Lifting equipment
  • Delivery equipment
  • Rigging
  • Site preparation
  • Foundations
  • Anchoring
  • Placement procedures

Installation should follow the applicable product drawing and Outdoor Creations’ handling requirements.

Improper installation may include:

  • Lifting the product from an unsupported location
  • Dragging the product
  • Striking the product with equipment
  • Placing it on an unstable surface
  • Using unsuitable anchors
  • Failing to follow mounting specifications
  • Damaging edges during placement
  • Altering the product without approval

Customers should consult D&D Learning Spaces before relocating or modifying installed Outdoor Creations furniture.

Product Handling After Installation

The vandalism guarantee specifically excludes damage caused by handling after installation.

This may include damage caused while:

  • Relocating the product
  • Lifting it for grounds maintenance
  • Moving it for paving or landscaping
  • Removing it temporarily
  • Reinstalling it
  • Transporting it to another site

Because of the weight and construction of precast concrete products, relocation should be performed by qualified personnel using appropriate equipment.

Freight and Delivery Damage

Damage occurring during shipping, unloading or placement is generally handled separately from a manufacturing-warranty claim.

Customers should inspect each delivery before the delivery team leaves and retain:

  • Delivery receipts
  • Bills of lading
  • Photographs of the product on the delivery vehicle
  • Photographs taken before unloading
  • Photographs of damaged packaging or protective materials
  • Photographs of chipped corners or edges
  • Product model and order information

Visible damage should be documented on the delivery receipt.

Customers should notify D&D Learning Spaces immediately when delivery or placement damage is discovered.

What Will Outdoor Creations Do for an Approved Claim?

For an approved standard product-warranty claim, Outdoor Creations may, at its option:

  • Repair the defective part
  • Replace the defective part

Covered parts are repaired or replaced without charge.

For an approved claim under the 10-year vandalism guarantee, Outdoor Creations may:

  • Fully repair the damaged Model 100S or Model 101S table
  • Replace a table that has been destroyed
  • Replace a table that has been rendered nonfunctional

The vandalism guarantee is limited to one replacement for each covered table.

Outdoor Creations determines whether a reported condition qualifies and whether repair or replacement is appropriate.

Warranty Authorization Requirements

Customers should not repair, modify, dispose of or return a product before Outdoor Creations has reviewed the claim and provided instructions.

Before authorization, customers should not:

  • Arrange structural concrete repairs
  • Apply a patching compound
  • Refinish the product
  • Alter the product
  • Remove damaged portions
  • Dispose of the product
  • Order a replacement independently
  • Incur repair or installation expenses

Unauthorized work may interfere with Outdoor Creations’ ability to inspect the original condition and determine whether the issue qualifies for coverage.
