Project Description

The Oakland Technical High School Wellness Center was thoughtfully designed to support student well-being, youth development, and meaningful social connection within a safe and welcoming environment. The space incorporates a variety of flexible settings that encourage both collaboration and quiet reflection, allowing students to engage in ways that best support their emotional and academic needs.

Soft seating elements throughout the center create comfortable areas for casual group conversations, peer support, and community building, while dedicated sensory spaces provide students with opportunities for individual decompression and quiet time. A private one-to-one faculty and student meeting area offers a confidential setting for counseling, mentorship, and personal support discussions. At the heart of the Wellness Center, large collaborative tables allow students to gather for homework, projects, and group activities, encouraging connection and academic engagement in a relaxed atmosphere.

Designed with the whole student in mind, the Wellness Center serves as a supportive hub that promotes mental health, inclusivity, comfort, and positive student interaction throughout the school day.
