Ergotron Limited Product Warranty Summary

D&D Learning Spaces is an authorized dealer for Ergotron products. Ergotron manufactures monitor arms, display mounts, mobile desks, sit-stand workstations, classroom charging systems, medical carts, powered workstations, battery systems and related ergonomic technology-support products.

Ergotron does not use one universal warranty period for every product. Coverage varies by product family and component and ranges from 90 days to 15 years.

Current published coverage includes:

  • 15 years for TRACE monitor-mount products
  • 10 years for selected monitor arms, mobile desks and sit-stand workstations
  • Five years for many standard Ergotron products and selected components
  • Limited-lifetime coverage for the frames of Zip and YES charging systems
  • Shorter product-specific coverage for batteries, cables, electronics and other components

Unless otherwise stated, the warranty begins on the date of purchase or the date of delivery, whichever is later.

What Does Ergotron’s Limited Warranty Mean?

Ergotron warrants that covered products will remain free from defects in materials and workmanship during the warranty period assigned to the product category.

For customers, this means that Ergotron may repair or replace a covered product if it develops a qualifying defect during normal and intended use.

When repair or replacement is unavailable or not commercially practical, Ergotron may refund the product’s purchase price.

Ergotron determines:

  • Whether the reported condition is a covered defect
  • Whether repair or replacement is appropriate
  • Whether a functionally equivalent replacement will be provided
  • Whether a refund is appropriate
  • Which costs, if any, are authorized

Any costs connected with a warranty repair or replacement must receive Ergotron’s advance approval.

A limited warranty does not guarantee that a product will remain free from ordinary wear, cosmetic changes or maintenance needs. Coverage applies to qualifying defects in original materials or workmanship.

Who Is Covered?

Ergotron’s limited warranty applies only to the original end consumer.

The warranty is non-transferable. It does not automatically pass to another owner when a product is:

  • Sold
  • Donated
  • Transferred to another school or organization
  • Purchased secondhand
  • Acquired from a liquidation or surplus source

For purchases in the United States, the product must have been purchased from:

  • Ergotron directly
  • An authorized Ergotron distributor
  • An authorized Ergotron reseller
  • An authorized Ergotron representative

Ergotron reserves the right to reject claims involving products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized websites and online marketplace storefronts.

Customers should retain:

  • The original D&D Learning Spaces invoice
  • The purchase-order number
  • The Ergotron product name
  • The product model or part number
  • The serial number, when applicable
  • The purchase date
  • The delivery date
  • Installation records
  • Maintenance records
  • Photographs of the product
  • Records of prior repairs or replacements

What Is Covered?

Ergotron’s warranty covers qualifying defects in:

  • Original materials
  • Manufacturing
  • Workmanship
  • Structural product components
  • Product-specific mechanical components
  • Product-specific electrical components
  • Product-specific batteries
  • Product-specific cables and power modules
  • Other original Ergotron components during their stated warranty periods

The exact coverage depends on the product category and component involved.

For example, one product may have:

  • A 10-year structural warranty
  • A five-year battery defect warranty
  • A three-year battery-capacity warranty
  • A two-year power-module warranty
  • A one-year electronics warranty

Customers should therefore identify the exact component rather than assuming that every part receives the longest warranty assigned to the overall product.

What Is Not Covered?

Ergotron’s limited warranty does not cover damage, deterioration or failure caused by:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Product abuse
  • Product modification
  • Failure to follow product instructions
  • Improper operation
  • Unauthorized service
  • Unauthorized repair
  • Improper maintenance
  • Failure to perform preventive maintenance
  • Misuse
  • Negligence
  • Acts of God
  • Electrical-power problems
  • Parts or components not supplied by Ergotron
  • External peripherals
  • External accessories
  • Third-party software
  • Improper shipment
  • Improper installation
  • Use outside the product’s intended application

Ergotron is not responsible for damage, injury or loss caused by failure to follow its installation manuals, supplemental assembly instructions, technical bulletins or product literature.

Understanding Limited-Lifetime Coverage

Ergotron’s limited-lifetime warranty applies specifically to the frames of Zip and YES charging systems.

It does not mean that every component receives lifetime coverage.

The lifetime provision:

  • Applies only to the original end user
  • Continues only while the original end user owns the product
  • Covers qualifying frame defects
  • Does not transfer to another owner
  • Does not include mechanical components
  • Does not include electrical components
  • Does not include cables
  • Does not cover normal wear or misuse

The mechanical, electrical and cable components remain subject to their separate five-, three- and one-year terms.

Battery Capacity Versus Manufacturing-Defect Coverage

Ergotron distinguishes between:

  • Battery-capacity performance; and
  • Manufacturing defects

A battery-capacity warranty measures how much charge the battery can still hold during the stated period.

A manufacturing-defect warranty applies to a defect in the battery’s original construction or materials.

For example, an integrated StyleView LiFe battery may carry:

  • Three years of capacity coverage; and
  • Five years of manufacturing-defect coverage

This does not mean that all battery-performance changes are covered for five years.

Battery health may need to be confirmed using Ergotron software or the product’s onboard diagnostic system.

Battery Use and Preventive Maintenance

Battery warranties depend on proper charging, use and storage.

Customers should:

  • Follow Ergotron charging instructions
  • Keep powered carts connected as recommended
  • Avoid deep or prolonged battery discharge
  • Use approved chargers and power modules
  • Keep ventilation openings clear
  • Avoid excessive heat or cold
  • Perform recommended battery-health checks
  • Replace paired SLA batteries at the same time
  • Avoid leaving SLA-powered carts unused for more than three consecutive months
  • Maintain required fleet-management or monitoring software where applicable

Failure to perform preventive maintenance is excluded from warranty coverage.

Proper Installation and Intended Use

Ergotron products must be shipped, assembled, installed and used according to:

  • Installation manuals
  • Supplemental assembly instructions
  • Technical bulletins
  • Product literature
  • Weight-capacity limits
  • Display-size requirements
  • Electrical requirements
  • Mounting and structural requirements

Improper installation may cause:

  • Monitor or display damage
  • Product instability
  • Failure of mounting hardware
  • Damage to walls or work surfaces
  • Electrical hazards
  • Injury
  • Loss of warranty coverage

Customers should use qualified installers when installing:

  • Wall-mounted monitor arms
  • Large display mounts
  • Ceiling mounts
  • Powered carts
  • Electrical charging systems
  • Mobile medical workstations
  • Equipment requiring structural attachment

Monitor-Arm Weight and Display Compatibility

Monitor arms should be used only with displays that fall within the published:

  • Weight range
  • Screen-size range
  • VESA-mounting pattern
  • Configuration limits

Customers should not:

  • Attach an overweight monitor
  • Add unsupported accessories
  • Use unapproved adapter brackets
  • Force an arm that is not properly tensioned
  • Modify the clamp or grommet mount
  • Drill into the arm
  • Use non-Ergotron structural components

Damage caused by an incompatible display or unsupported accessory may not qualify for warranty coverage.

Casters, Hinges and Mechanical Components

Mechanical components such as casters, hinges, doors and handles may have shorter warranty periods than the product frame.

Customers should:

  • Inspect casters regularly
  • Remove debris from caster wheels
  • Use caster brakes appropriately
  • Avoid striking thresholds at excessive speed
  • Tighten loose hardware
  • Avoid forcing doors or hinges
  • Use handles rather than cables to move equipment
  • Remove damaged products from service

Normal wheel wear, impact damage and damage caused by improper movement may not be covered.

Electrical Power and External Equipment

Ergotron excludes damage caused by electrical-power problems and external devices.

Examples include:

  • Power surges
  • Voltage fluctuations
  • Improper wiring
  • Ungrounded outlets
  • Overloaded circuits
  • Unsupported power adapters
  • Third-party batteries
  • Non-Ergotron charging components
  • External peripherals
  • Third-party accessories or software

Customers should use:

  • Properly grounded receptacles
  • Suitable surge protection
  • Ergotron-approved power components
  • Compatible peripherals
  • Qualified electrical installers where required

Unauthorized Repairs and Modifications

Ergotron excludes damage caused by unauthorized service or repair.

Customers should not:

  • Open electrical enclosures
  • Repair circuit boards
  • Modify internal wiring
  • Weld or drill into structural components
  • Substitute non-Ergotron parts
  • Modify a battery system
  • Replace paired batteries incorrectly
  • Alter a monitor arm
  • Change product controls or firmware without authorization
  • Dispose of defective components before inspection

Customers should contact D&D Learning Spaces before arranging any repair or modification.

Extended Warranties

Ergotron offers purchasable extended-warranty options for selected products and services.

Extended warranties follow the same general terms, exclusions and conditions as Ergotron’s standard limited warranty.

Availability depends on:

  • The product
  • The service level
  • The original warranty
  • The purchase date
  • The region
  • Whether the extended coverage was purchased within the required period

An extended warranty should be documented on the D&D Learning Spaces quotation, invoice or Ergotron service agreement.

Freight and Delivery Damage

Freight and delivery damage are generally separate from a manufacturing-warranty claim.

Customers should inspect shipments immediately and retain:

  • Cartons
  • Pallets
  • Foam and protective packaging
  • Shipping labels
  • Delivery receipts
  • Bills of lading
  • Photographs before unpacking
  • Photographs of visible damage
  • Photographs of concealed damage
  • Product labels and serial numbers

Visible damage should be noted on the delivery receipt before it is signed.

D&D Learning Spaces should be notified promptly so the issue can be handled through the correct freight or delivery process.

What Will Ergotron Do for an Approved Claim?

When Ergotron determines that a product has a covered materials-or-workmanship defect, it may:

  • Repair the product
  • Replace the product
  • Replace the affected component
  • Supply a functionally equivalent product
  • Refund the purchase price when replacement is unavailable and repair is not commercially practical or timely

Ergotron determines the appropriate remedy.

Costs associated with repair or replacement must receive Ergotron’s advance approval.

Return Material Authorization

A Return Material Authorization, commonly called an RMA, is required before a product is returned to Ergotron.

Customers should not ship equipment until Ergotron has provided:

  • An RMA number
  • The correct return address
  • Packaging instructions
  • Identification of the product or component to be returned
  • Shipping instructions
  • Any required documentation

Unauthorized returns may be refused or delayed.

Warranty Period After Repair or Replacement

Repairing or replacing a product under warranty does not restart or extend the original warranty period.

The repaired or replacement product remains covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

Non-Warranty Repairs

Ergotron may accept products for repair outside warranty when Customer Care has issued a preapproved RMA.

For non-warranty repairs:

  • The customer is responsible for labor
  • The customer is responsible for freight
  • A product-specific repair fee may apply
  • The repaired product receives a 90-day warranty beginning when the customer receives it

When an out-of-warranty product is returned, Ergotron may offer the following options:

  • Upgrade to a newer equivalent product at a similar suggested selling price
  • Return the original product at the customer’s expense
  • Dispose of the product after receiving a written request, subject to possible fees and local law

If Ergotron tests the returned product and finds no defect, the product will be returned and the customer will be responsible for freight.

Warranty Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, Ergotron excludes other express or implied warranties beyond those stated in its limited-warranty policy.

Ergotron does not guarantee that use of its products will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Ergotron excludes liability under the warranty for:

  • Incidental damages
  • Consequential damages
  • Special damages
  • Punitive damages

Ergotron’s warranty liability is limited to the amount paid by the end user for the product or service.

Some states or countries do not permit all limitations or exclusions, so customers may have additional legal rights.

Warranty Claim Requirements

An Ergotron warranty claim should include:

  • The original D&D Learning Spaces invoice
  • The purchase-order number
  • The purchase date
  • The delivery date

  • Battery performance
  • Electrical controls
  • Doors, hinges or locks
  • Workstation instability
