Micro Learning Spaces
In the big picture, a school is a holistic learning environment. Think of a funnel moving water from macro to micro space.
Ideally, all the moving people and parts from: students, parents, staff, programs, curriculum, grade levels, materials, resources, furniture and technology should all be coordinated together for student achievement and their well-being.
Our philosophy as a furniture and technology vendor is to work with on-site and district staff to create solutions that help accomplish a school’s larger goals.
Knowing a school’s larger goals helps D&D create learning spaces and *micro learning spaces within the context of a learning environment.
*Micro Learning Spaces are defined areas within a learning space equipped with specific materials, technology and/or furniture.
1. P.I.E. - Plan
More Info
A typical D&D planning process with our clients may include, and is not limited to:
- Brainstorming in Zoom or face-to-face meeting(s).
- D&D will then create one or more draft 2D and/or 3D Floorplans to present.
- A D&D quote to client is created.
- Client and D&D come to consenus, and proceed to calendaring dates and the Integration Phase.
2. P.I.E. - Integrate
More Info
At D&D we emphasize Integration over Installation. Our project integration process syncs our furniture and technology within the educators’ goals of integrating their teaching and learning curriculum within their physical learning environment.
In our business, furniture and technology installation is where the rubber meets the road. Our Project Managers will always stay with you to coordinate our various service installers or construction trades. In any project, something unexcepted will need to be problem-solved during the installation phase. Our goal and commitment is to craft the learning space we planned together.
3. P.I.E. - Evaluate
More Info
Our simple three-step P.I.E. process comes from Design Thinking models of learning. The Evaluaton phase is often a time to review and reflect for both the client and D&D collectively.
At D&D we view projects like a Slinky®. A Slinky is a continueous band of circles. Before moving on to the next circle or cycle, D&D and the client evaluate the current project performance and events. We build relationships so that we both can work together again in the future. ![]()
